Overview

The IEC 62271 single busbar panel is a 12kV LMVP fixed-enclosure panel built around four main sections: busbar and current transformer chamber, control cubicle, cable box, and circuit breaker compartment.

Busbar and Current Transformer Chamber

The busbar chamber contains three-phase copper busbars rated at 1250A, 2000A, 2500A, or 3000A. The rear chamber section houses current transformers selected to project specification.

Current transformer options include low-voltage insulated units mounted on earthed screened primary bushings with silica-filled epoxy resin insulation. Bar primary or wound primary types can be specified, with compliance to IEC 61869-1 and IEC 61869-2.

Control Cubicle

The control cubicle houses control equipment, protection relays, instruments, and associated relay wiring for the panel application.

Cable Box

The cable box is air insulated and arranged for heat-shrink cable terminations.

Circuit Breaker Compartment

The bottom section houses the circuit breaker. Guide rails support smooth entry and removal while helping the breaker locate accurately in the correct position.

Internal Arc Compliance (IEC 62271-200)

Certification highlights include 25kA for 1 second front, lateral, and rear access. The panel supports ducted and internally vented solutions, category A-FLR, and configurations that can vent into the substation through a thermal control baffle system or externally.

The arrangement is suited to ceiling heights down to 2.8m and can be configured for different substation layouts while maintaining a controlled thermal profile around the switchboard during fault conditions.

Seismic Compliance (1g)

Seismic compliance highlights include testing to IEEE 693, with resonance frequency checks on three axes, time-history testing on x, y, and z axes at 1g for 30 seconds, auto re-close operation during testing, and functional tests before and after seismic testing.

Non-withdrawable swing voltage transformer

The swing VT solution has been tested to IEC 62271-200 for internal arc withstand. The voltage transformers comply with IEC 61869-1 and IEC 61869-3.
